Reopening is just the start.
In all the recent chaos, one thing has become glaringly clear:
There’s a lot we don’t know.
We don’t know exactly when or how the authorities will allow us to fully reopen our restaurants.
We don’t know if the rescue funds we’ve been promised will ever reach us. Or if funds will truly be forgiven. We don’t know when or if all our employees will return.
And as we start to reopen, we don’t know for sure how our guests’ behaviors will be different, or how different the competitive landscape will be.
There is uncertainty around almost every area of the restaurant business, but fearing the unknown can often cause us to lose sight of the one thing we do know.
The ultimate winners position themselves now to handle whatever happens in the future.
The truth is...
This is the opportunity of a lifetime.
Our industry will reopen, and when it does, restaurants will look completely different than in the pre-COVID era. The restaurant owners that use this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to press the reset button will be the ones that survive and dominate their segment.
Will you seize the opportunity?
Hi! I'm Matthew Mabel.
For the last 30 years, I’ve been passionately focused on one thing: Helping restaurant owners grow profitably and achieve new levels of personal freedom than they ever thought possible.
I've operated and advised businesses during the oil bust in the 1980s, the recession of the early 1990s, 9/11, and the crash of 2008. I helped businesses survive and prosper through all four of these events, but the COVID crisis challenges us even more.
After spending the past month helping my clients and others save their restaurants, I’m determined to help as many independent restaurateurs survive and prosper from this crisis as possible.
Independence does not equal total self-reliance.
Only recently have we had the chance to take a breath. Owners are still reeling from the shock — and not just from the toll on our restaurants. Many of us have been affected personally by the suffering.
While nothing up to this point has been easy, for our restaurant businesses, the hardest parts still lie ahead. Thinking of short-term survival will only get us so far. And, while you’re an independent restaurant owner, this is no time to equate independence with total self-reliance.
The Restaurant Survival and Success Club gives owners unique access to industry-leading consulting and other high-powered restaurateurs. You won’t be alone.
Throughout the program, owners will learn how to navigate the shutdown, reopening, and new reality in three phases:
- Ensure sure you are still in business when you eventually get usage of your full dining room
- Know your cash position and obligations, and your options for conserving cash
- Secure and utilize SBA funds to retain your business
- Keep your workforce, guests, and vendors enrolled in your future
- Supercharge your brand by acting quickly and creatively to new guest, vendor, community, government, and employee behavior as it evolves
- Expose and repair existing weaknesses in your business
- Install safety measures to protect employees and guests
- Take advantage of the new competitive landscape
- Operate even better than you did before the crisis
- Rebuild your cash reserve
You've looked business death in the eye.
A long-time client recently told me, “I just looked business death directly in the eye. I’ve spent 17 years building my restaurant business and realized it could be gone in less than a week. That’s unacceptable. Let’s move forward and get ahead of this thing.”
I know you feel the same way.
This isn’t the first time you’ve faced adversity, and it certainly won’t be the last. You’ve faced challenges before, both in and out of your control, and you’ve come out the other side. Your restaurant business wasn’t struggling to survive before the pandemic, and you refuse to sit back and let failure happen to you.
It’s time to take action — to equip yourself with actionable insight from the best experts in our industry and join high-achieving restaurant owners who share your same values, goals, and determination. We will survive this crisis and come out stronger on the other side… together.

Why are there two group options?
Over the last 30 years, I’ve exclusively served independent multi-unit restaurant owners. Now, this the first time in my consulting career I’m opening the door to single-unit owners. Since owners of 15 restaurants will face different challenges than single-unit owners, having two groups allows us to better address specific needs and place owners with best-fit peers.
What’s the size of the group?
The maximum group size is 10 owners.
What if I can't make the session?
Recordings will be available to all members in the group, and you’ll still have unlimited email access to Matthew to ask any specific questions.
What if I start late? Will you prorate the fee?
You can join a group late if you wish, but the fee is the same.
My restaurant company has multiple owners. Will a single membership give each of us access?
Membership is per owner — not per restaurant company. Each owner will need to register and pay separately.
What is the refund policy?
If we cannot place you in a group for any reason, your fee will be refunded. Otherwise, fees are non-refundable, but you can choose not to renew your membership at the end of the quarter.
If there’s a price increase in membership, will I be charged extra?
No. The price you paid will be locked in for you until the point that you cancel – we look after our long-standing members.
